Understanding Failing LP Siding
We understand your confusion and frustration over the Louisiana Pacific (LP) Siding lawsuit and settlement. We have assisted homeowners in the replacement of their LP siding. We are familiar with what is involved in the LP replacement process -- including removal and clean-up.
At Awesome Exteriors, LLC we
will be glad to discuss your options of replacement.

Washington homeowners should be aware that if you have a defective siding product and are planning on selling your home, you are required to DISCLOSE this information to potential buyers. If you opt to side over defective product, you are still required to DISCLOSE this information.
Due to this liability issue, Awesome Exteriors, will NOT side over any defective product. If you talk with a contractor who will do this, we also strongly recommend you talk with a knowledgeable realtor or attorney familiar with real estate law.
Frequently Asked Questions about LP and Weyerhaeuser Siding
Q. Why did LP siding fail?
A. Simply put, L.P. "Innerseal" siding made by Louisiana Pacific is wood chips and glue. It fails because of its nature to absorb moisture, swell and deteriorate. Formulation and failure to properly test this product in our area (climate) lead to this situation.
Q. Why should I replace the LP siding?
A. The LP siding, once it begins to swell will continue to absorb moisture until it allows water to infiltrate your sub-walls and framing. If left, it can allow considerable damage to your home including rot, "mushrooming" and mildew/mold growth.
Q. Can I just "paint" over it with the new LP paint or coatings?
A. If only it were so easy! Paint actually "locks" moisture in, to further cause damage once it has begun. Those "hi-tech" coatings sound great with their warranties, the those warranties cover the coating, NOT THE LP siding! The coating can be fine, the LP can still rot underneath and cause even more damage. And, as a homeowner, should you choose to sell your home, you are still required to DISCLOSE the LP Siding issue to your potential buyers.
